野人花園經典歌曲
這首歌是主唱戴倫海斯新婚沒多久的時候做的，那個時候他剛結婚卻要離開老婆前往雪梨製作野人花園同名專輯，原本這首歌叫做Magical Kiss，後來經過修飾和重新詮釋後才叫做Truly madly deeply，是寫給他當時的老婆的，原本海斯覺得這首歌太私人了，想放在b-side裡面，但製作人硬是要收在專輯裡還發行成單曲，後來這首歌打入美國市場，打敗了艾爾頓強的風中之燭，蟬連美國告示牌排行榜雙週冠軍，野人花園的音樂事業也在同年（１９９８年）邁入最高峰

由主唱Darren Hayes以及負責樂器演奏的Daniel Jones兩人，一同成軍於1994年、並於1996年發表首張單曲正式進軍樂壇，隔年便襲捲全球成為家喻戶曉的流行團體的Savage Garden，雖然難逃許多當紅二人組合如慧星般劃過星空留下耀眼光芒即各自解散的魔咒命運，於2001年正值事業顛峰之際，即由於個人發展重心的考量而做出最艱難的決定--彼此各奔東西，分別往幕前、幕後發展，尋求更寬廣的天空。但其在短短不到５年的時間內，卻已締造了兩張全球暢銷的超白金專輯，產生了「I Want You」「Truly Madly Deeply」「To The Moon & Back」「I knew I Loved You」「The Animal Song」等膾炙人口的冠軍單曲，並累積全球總銷量逾二千萬張！
而這支二人組之所以成功的首要因素，莫過於是其綻現出前所未聞的新鮮聲音，在當時那一片由喧嚷吉他所營造出完全反叛的另類音樂風潮中，帶著搖滾的精神出走、另外尋得與主流音樂平衡之立足點，同時藉著極具創意的音樂創作天份，散發出無法抗拒的流行魅力。在電子旋律與放克吉他所搭築出的樂曲之間，Savage Garden那敏銳的諷刺手法，藉著運用自如的文字傳遞出人性的真實面，並以多種不同曲風並置的方式，來展現出他們的多才多藝，因而獲得全球無數樂迷的愛戴。

故事的起源－－
這對拍檔於1994年相識於布里斯班的一間酒吧裡，故事是這麼發生的：原來屬於澳洲樂團Essex一員的Daniel登了篇廣告要尋找一位主唱一起共組樂團，而Darren看到廣告後就前往應徵，兩人一拍即合。這兩個人決定要結合他們各人的音樂理念來一起創作，接著兩人就進入了籌備期，一起寫歌，然後錄了許多卷試聽帶寄給各大唱片公司。「我們從一見面就非常契合，」Darren回憶道，「我們都很堅定地要朝音樂這條路勇往直前，我們都很有野心，我們一見面就覺得我們是一家人。」
收到試聽帶的唱片公司馬上表示了對他們兩人的高度興趣。很快地，兩人就進入了錄音室，展開他們為期八個月的錄音工作。「這是我最棒的學習經驗。」Daniel說明，「雖然我們才剛開始這趟旅程，但是我們仍非常渴望能將自己的音樂理念傳達給大眾。我們現在正在做的事情就是把自己的夢想實現出來。」
Daniel所說的對音樂的熱忱，可以在他們於哥倫比亞唱片公司旗下所發行之首張專輯裡，既多元又充滿感情的音樂中看到明顯的證據。精銳的文字組合、甜美的情歌、還有一些在音樂上的前衛實驗，全都著床於柔軟舒適的豐富電子音樂與多情旋律上，這是一次新鮮且精明的傳統與科技的結合，而在音樂上的融合成果也展現出了Daniel與Darren之間完美的化學作用。
命運之門開啟－－
「I Want You」是一首滿溢著八０年代歐式流行音樂氣息的歌曲，這首自他們處女專輯中選出的第一支單曲，一推出即造成澳洲流行音樂市場一片轟動，成為1996年全澳最暢銷的一張單曲唱片。而由於一位美國DJ在一次造訪澳洲之後，對這首歌的流暢旋律留下了深刻的印象，因此在回到美國之後，全力播放推薦這支單曲，並獲得聽眾們熱烈的迴響；再加上十分搶眼的音樂錄影帶在電視上強力曝光，如此強勢條件推波助瀾之下，「I Want You」以令人咋舌的迅雷之姿一舉登上全美單曲第4名，讓澳洲新進樂團徹底在美國揚眉吐氣一番！
緊接著推出的第二首單曲「To The Moon ＆ Back」，描寫的是一個在父母離異家庭中長大的孩子的真實故事，這首單曲也在榜上迅速竄升，輕鬆進佔全澳單曲排行王座，銷售數字也超越了前一張單曲所創下的成績。
展翅高飛－－
「Truly Madly Deeply」這首自專輯裡所抽出的第三支單曲則傳遞出截然不同的心情，歌曲中吐露出源於真心的真實情感。這首優美的抒情歌曲不但為Savage Garden再下一城全澳單曲冠軍，並在英國創下發行首週即獲Top 4的成績，更石破天驚地為Savage Garden攫獲他們的首次全美單曲排行兩週冠軍紀錄！此曲音樂錄影帶遠赴巴黎拍攝，美麗的景緻配合優雅的旋律，難怪深受全球各地樂迷的狂熱喜愛。
這對二重唱所展現出的伶俐才華及熱情，直陳於他們所做出的音樂中。只要一聽到他們的專輯，就能嗅得他們即將成功的濃郁氣息。專輯滿盈著豐沛的愛意，其中許多首歌曲都深入探索了愛情所導致的複雜關係。「To The Moon ＆ Back」一曲在音樂方面的表現則顯得較成熟且聰慧，透過Darren憂鬱的歌聲以及Daniel所營造出的多感旋律，聽者可以細細品味到迷惘、受傷和殷殷盼望的感覺。「Break Me Shake Me」一曲裡藉貝斯的囓咬與吉他的低吟並排築成對比的精緻感。而略帶憂傷的「A Thousand Words」一曲則散發出被背叛的感受。
展現在歌曲部份的多元性也同樣地反應在他們的錄音過程裡。Daniel就說：「像『Universe』本來是設計為一首演奏曲。這首歌曲是為吉他而寫的，聽起來像是Eric Clapton與Steve Vai的綜合體。後來Darren為它做了一些改編，讓它聽起來像是Motown的黑人靈魂音樂。」的確，這首歌曲的性感節奏與甜美的吟唱讓它聽起來很有Smokey Robinson的味道。
1997年年終，Savage Garden果然一如大家所預見的，一舉勇奪澳洲音樂獎10項榮譽大獎，其中包括了眾所覬覦的「最佳樂團」、「年度最佳單曲（Truly Madly Deeply）」、「年度最佳歌曲（To The Moon And Back）」、「最佳流行歌曲（To The Moon And Back）」、「年度最佳專輯」等超級大獎。而在美國，佳績連連的結果使得母專輯也打入全美專輯榜Top 4。不但如此，亞洲地區著名的音樂電視Channel V的年度音樂大獎亦頒予這對二重唱「年度最佳國際單曲」（I Want You）的殊榮。
截至1998年初為止，Savage Garden的首張同名專輯便已創下許多歷史性的輝煌紀錄：在澳洲，此輯首週入榜即獲冠軍，並在冠軍寶座上連續停留長達16週之久；同時，更以同時獲得單曲榜冠軍的「Truly Madly Deeply」創下澳洲音樂史上首度專輯與單曲同時榮獲排行冠軍的樂團紀錄！這張專輯在澳洲的銷售，至1998年3月底止即已擁有60萬張的9白金銷售認證佳績（至2005年則超過84萬張獲得12張白金認證），亦創下澳洲音樂史上單張專輯銷售成績最好的樂團紀錄。在其他國家，Savage Garden表現一樣勇猛：在紐西蘭，本張專輯理所當然地拿下榜首，並擁有4白金的銷售紀錄。在加拿大，創下三白金成績的這張專輯在首週進榜之時即直奔冠軍！在美國這個全球最大的流行音樂市場中的表現同樣搶眼，以外來新團之姿創下白金專輯銷售紀錄。在台灣本地，這張專輯的銷售亦已達到多白金成績！
Savage Garden似乎對本地的歌迷特別鍾愛，不但於1997年兩度訪華，更決定在1998年4月27日於台北舉行演唱會。為了回饋熱情支持他們的歌迷，Savage Garden特別在演唱會前限量發行雙CD豪華版專輯，除了原來的同名專輯之外，內附8首歌珍藏CD一張，特別收錄3首全球冠軍金曲獨創混音版、1首排行Top 10勁曲特殊混音版，以及4首專輯從未收錄的精彩作品；這套雙專輯為Savage Garden旋風做了完美的熱身。
Daniel表示：「好像才在昨天，我還在祈求這一切的發生。好像從天而降一樣。不過如果我只是坐在這裡空想這些的話，那我可能就會瘋掉了。我們現在只是堅持往我們自己所要走的路繼續走下去，到目前為止，我們所走過的這段旅程真是太令人驚訝了。」
再造佳績－－
以首張同名專輯便征服全球排行冠軍寶座，創下超過千萬張專輯銷售的Savage Garden，在全球樂迷的引頸期盼下，於1999年11推出了繼其同名專輯之後，兩年來的首張全新鉅作“Affirmation認定”。
此張於1999年底推出的跨世鉅作，曲曲都是Darren與Daniel二年來的心血創作結晶，彷彿一張展現真實人生的原聲帶，毫不造假地將由澳洲遷往紐約的主唱Darren這段日子來的心路歷程，及如平常人般面對新環境適應問題時，所產生之諸多情感與思想的激發，都藉由作品來與其廣大歌迷分享，並由他們與葛萊美獎得主製作人Walter Afanasieff (Ricky Martin, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Michael Bolton)共同擔綱製作完成。

劃下美麗的休止符－－
雖然說“天下無不散的宴席”，由Darren與Daniel兩人所共創的Savage Garden樂團生涯，在創造了逾二千萬張的銷售數字後，突然於2001年10月暫時劃下了休止符，但其所創造出的音樂作品，卻彷彿早已擁有其各自獨立的生命力般，不斷地傳唱下去、深植在更多樂迷的心中，使得其作品的銷售量依然不斷且穩定地累積，至2005年止，亦已突破2千3百萬張了，而其「Truly Madly Deeply」以及「I Knew I Loved You 」兩首抒情經典，亦長期地在Billboard當代成人抒情榜史上，分別保有其於榜首停留時間最長的排行冠亞軍紀錄。
繼續單飛－－
單飛後的Darren，在與過去合作夥伴同時也是葛萊美金獎製作人Walter Afanasieff 合力製作專輯、並與Walter及Rick Nowels（曾為Madonna、Dido作嫁歌曲）一同譜寫歌曲，從35首新作中精挑細選出12首最能表現他那令人動容的嗓音及個人音樂魅力的作品之後，在無數樂迷的引頸期盼下，於2002發表了其首張個人專輯“Spin心靈節奏”。此張風格從大家熟悉的抒情曲式延伸到帶有R &B、電子氣息的專輯，真實動人地映照出對愛情追求的種種慾望及難以自拔的心情，而其紮實的創作亦獲得全英專輯榜亞軍殊榮，不僅成功地得到了近兩百萬張的銷售成績，並締造了「Insatiable」等四首暢銷排行單曲，在台灣創造雙白金的銷售量。
